Headway Adolescent Resources Ltd was established in 1999. The organisation has expanded slowly but steadily over the last seven years, providing a high quality residential service to young people from England and Wales. We pride ourselves in having the insight and ability to care for young people as individuals in a holistic manner, regardless of their background, culture, religion or ability.
This means that we have to be flexible, diverse and adaptable while ensuring that legislation and good practise prevail. Our Managers are all experienced and qualified to R.M.A. Level and have all studied N.V.Q. 4 in Care. In total the management team have over 50 years experience within the field of Residential Childcare, both locally and abroad.
Headway understands the importance of providing a service which is of the highest quality and will always work to achieve identified outcomes for young people as per Every Child Matters. In the event of Headway not meeting those outcomes, we will always inform the Placing Authority without delay. The Organisation works closely with Placing Authorities to stabilise and reintegrate young people into more realistic living environments, such as foster care, family or other carers as soon as possible, while realising that this may not be the outcome for every young person. The homes offer young people the chance to develop independent living skills in many areas, i.e. cooking, budgeting, citizenship and have in some cases initiated driving lessons in consultation with the Placing Authority, resulting in the young person leaving our Home with a full driver’s licence.
We will upon request and risk assessment provide aftercare support and respite including on call back up for foster carers or family where possible.
Our Quality Assurance Monitoring Systems ensure that all relevant professionals and the young person ’s family, where appropriate, contribute to the development and quality of the service that we provide to young people. Young people themselves play an active role in the development of policies and practice. They contribute to the interior design of the homes and are encouraged to become involved in the landscaping of our gardens.
